Email Icon I’ve never lined up for a motocross race in my life, only because I am intimidated by the damn jumps. That’s tough on the ego to admit, but it’s true. But seriously, rolling up to a jump that’s as steep as a mule’s face is pretty difficult to hit when you’ve got a stack of bills and other responsibilities waiting at home. Maybe the USMCA [U.S. Motorcycle Coaching Association] could eventually be broad enough to have a representative work with local facilities to create, for lack of better word, less intimidating tracks. It’d help me!

Email Icon With Monster Energy potentially planning to get into the alcohol biz, how would that mesh with the all-American face of supercross? Or are we seeing the real reason behind the hemp-product sponsorship bans from last fall?
Dan Wilson // Colorado Springs, CO
Thanks for the note. The hemp-product ban had nothing to do with Monster Energy—it was restricted (to a lesser degree) in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross as well, which is a Red Bull-backed series. The mainstream acceptance of hemp products is rapidly changing, but not enough for all 50 states to get on board just yet. The hemp restrictions were in place long before last fall. As for Monster Energy possibly getting into the alcohol market, I’m not sure that would change anything, as SX has had alcohol sponsorships before. DC

Why doesn’t Feld or the AMA govern and sanction these title series drug testing using just USADA, shoving the FIM and their incompetent timely procedures of WADA from the train? The FIM has been around since 1904, so I’m guessing it’s their prestige that makes them attractive to Feld and the AMA? Enough is enough!

I raced my first official eMTB race this weekend at the GNCC, and after the fun that ensued, I just had to email you. I’ve raced bicycles all around the country since I was 12 years old. This was the most fun that I’ve ever had on a bicycle. Everything from the race environment, friendly race staff, and the structure of the race itself was a total blast. The cycling scene is huge and e-bikes are growing fast. I’m not sure if Racer Productions plans to grow the series year after year, but after what I was just part of, I’d rather be at their events than nearly anything else I’ve competed in. The course was muddy and my heart rate was 190 bpm, but damn did I have fun! I may even start racing my Yamaha YZ450 on Sundays next year!

Do you think there is any chance at all that we’ll ever see James Stewart fire up one of his old KX125s and line up for a 125 All Star Series exhibition race? Please!
John Carter // Racer X Online
We’re with you, John, but he had a great chance in June at the new Florida National. Alas, James stayed home. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that he participates someday. . . . DC

LETTER OF THE MONTH
Racer X Brand Masthead Tee

Email Icon Fans used to watch MX and SX for the crashes and aggressive riding. At whose and what inevitable eventual expense? I think the sport has attained enough respect now that we can step up and protect our riders a little more. I have an idea for the SX tracks: 180s should be made out of sand. That might slow things down enough that a simple obstacle out of the corner will now be more difficult.
Jay Johnson // Owatonna, MN
Interesting idea, Jay, but I’m not sure making it even more difficult is going the right way in regard to safety. I can understand flat 180 corners, but not adding sand to all of them. DC

JAY WILL RECEIVE A RACER X BRAND MASTHEAD TEE.
