BLAIR
Danny Stuart and Daniel Blair have more in common than just a first name: both love dirt bikes, both are part of the Monster Energy Supercross production team, and Stuart even runs MX207, site of the Racer X Maine Event, while Blair hosts a podcast named Main Event Moto on the Racer X Podcast Network. Let’s see what else they share in this month’s 2 Tribes.

Last person who made you nervous?
DS: My driver at the Erzberg Rodeo. We were bombing the switchbacks up the Iron Giant like it was a rally race. It’s on my Instagram stories: @dannystu.
DB: Adam Cianciarulo after the 250 Showdown in Las Vegas.

Greatest accomplishment?
DS: That’s tough. If I had to pinpoint one thing it’d be the growth of MX207 or, more specifically, the 2018 Racer X Maine Event we held.
DB: Becoming a dad.

Biggest surprise of the summer?
DS: Roczen. When we were shooting Red Bull Moto Spy we saw behind the scenes just how bogged down he was. I’m happy to see him doing better.
DB: Weigandt’s watch alarm going off on TV.

Which one of you could destroy a golf cart faster?
DS: You don’t get a highly coveted regional arenacross championship like the one Daniel so proudly hangs his head on without being able to smash and dash, so I’d give this one to him.
DB: Not me. I’m too cheap to damage property.

Most ridiculous person in the pits?
DS: The locals having the time of their lives slamming cold ones and making more noise than the bikes.
DB: Stank Dog.

Best podcast?
DS: How I Built This, Pulp, [Jason] Weigandt’s, and of course some Main Event Moto.
DB: Anything but Pulp.

Favorite person in the pits?
DS: Our supercross video crew.
DB: Jim Holley.

Most useless item in your garage?
DS: My road bike. I’ve switched to trails.
DB: My gear.

First job?
DS: Grooming! I’ve been moving dirt since I was in seventh grade, and I still love it.
DB: Racing pro at 15. Bringing in the cheddar as a sophomore in high school.

GETTING PERSONAL

Whose ass would you like to kick?
DS: Daniel’s. He’s, like, three feet tall.
DB: Jacob Hayes’.

Talent you wish you had?
DS: Being good at anything would be nice. Probably mountain biking.
DB: I wish I was taller. Does that count?

Last movie you liked so much you watched it twice?
DS: Red Bull Moto Spy! Episode three was my favorite.
DB: Bohemian Rhapsody.

Dirtiest move you’ve pulled in competition?
DS: Some of my passes were a little more aggressive than I meant them to be, but I kept it pretty clean compared to DB. He was always sending dudes up to the nosebleeds.
DB: I paid the gate guy $20 at a local fair race to drop the gate when I dropped the clutch.

Dirtiest move that’s been put on you?
DS: Nothing comes to mind.
DB: Eric Nye cleaned me out so bad in 2004 I got my face run over.

One sport you would never try?
DS: Wingsuits.
DB: Bull riding.

Favorite sport other than MX?
DS: Mountain biking.
DB: Football.

Ever spent the night in jail?
DS: Negative.
DB: Not yet.

Best nickname in motocross?
DS: Bubba. Everyone knew who Bubba was.
DB: KRex. Sorry, Ken, my bad.

PLAYING FAVORITES

Best way to waste a day?
DS: A day of nothing once in a while is the best thing ever.
DB: There’s no such thing as a wasted day.

Dumbest idea in motocross?
DS: Being opposed to change. I’ve heard a lot of good ideas, but there are always die-hards who lose their minds over the thought of changing anything.
DB: The creation of the 450.

Being good at anything would be nice. Probably mountain biking.”—DS

What does racing need more of?
DS: Closer racing from start to finish.
DB: Aggressive racing.

Favorite motocross movie of all time?
DS: Red Bull Moto Spy.
DB: I know this won’t count, but the movie Rad is better than any moto movie.

Funniest travel story?
DS: Jason Weigandt accidentally took my pants—which happened to have my rental-car keys in them—from where we were staying and didn’t realize until he got home. So just as it’s time to head to the airport, I got a call from him saying he had my keys, and man, what a headache that caused. But it’s okay because he bought me a $5 gift card to Starbucks for the inconvenience.
DB: Kansas City AX. 2013. With Stank Dog. ’Nuff said.

Favorite food?
DS: Goldfish.
DB: Pizza.

ABOUT ME

Worst food?
DS: Olives.
DB: Chinese food.

Most annoying thing about you?
DS: I’m terrible with names.
DB: I live life fifth-gear wide open. It annoys the people around me, I think.

Most annoying thing about each other?
DS: He goes by Daniel, which is way more formal than Danny. It’s like he one-ups me right off the bat. Why you gotta do that?
DB: Danny always giving my son Evan last gate pick at Supercross Futures.

Childhood hero?
DS: James Stewart.
DB: Damon Bradshaw, Buddy Antunez, then Ricky Carmichael.

Best Christmas present?
DS: My dad hid a Z50 under a blanket.
DB: I hate getting gifts. Always have.

Who’s in your regular crew?
DS: In the video world it’s Wes Williams. At MX207 it’s my dad. And supporting me through it all is my girlfriend, Haley.
DB: Nye, Alquist, Hayes, Producer Joe, Hobo Nick, my brother Vincent, and Tyler Bowers.

There is the type of busy you post about and the type of busy you’re too busy to post about.
