A perfect six-for-six sweep at the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s is an impressive feat, and only one rider managed it in 2019: motocross legacy Maximus Vohland.

Racer X: You were the only rider to have a perfect six-for-six week at Loretta Lynn’s this year. What are your thoughts on how the week went for you?
Maximus Vohland: The week went perfect for me. I got good starts, and I was the fastest every time I was on the track. It couldn’t have gone better!

Did you feel any pressure going into this year’s event? And did the pressure build or become easier as the week went on?
I didn’t feel much pressure this year coming into the event, knowing that I’d won every race prior to Loretta’s, but when you’re sitting behind the gate for that first moto of the week, the pressure is on to perform. Once the first moto was over, there was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders, and the rest of the week became easier and easier as the motos went on.

You can look back at your minicycle career and say you ended on top. Does that excite you more for big bikes?
Well, now that minicycles are over, I’m definitely ready to get on a big bike, but I’m not overly excited. I know that it’s just another stepping-stone towards my professional career.

What does the future hold for Max Vohland? B Class? Supermini/125s? What’s next for you?
We’re actually still working on this with KTM, but it may be a combination of both, as I would like to do a few of the All Star 125 races on West Coast.

Have you done anything to unwind after the long week at the Ranch?
I haven’t done much besides sit on the couch since I’ve gotten back. It’s always a long process of getting the new bikes and selling the old ones, but as soon as the new bikes get in and set up properly, it will be all business for the rest of the year.

Your family has a few titles. Who has more Loretta Lynn’s championships between you, your dad [Tallon], and your uncle [Tyson]?
We were all tied up for the past four years with one championship each, but I’ve now pulled ahead. But who knows? They could catch back up to me with some 50+ Masters titles in the future [laughs].
