Racer X: Has the year started out the way you had hoped?
Crockett Myers: So far I’ve been pleased with my riding at the spring races. I’m really feeling good on the new bike, and things are starting to click. I finished on the podium at each event I attended so far this spring: second at Daytona, got a first and second at Spring a Ding Ding, and a second at Freestone.

Why the change from Suzuki to Husqvarna?
I rode for Suzuki from September of 2015 through September of 2018 with great success, and both parties were extremely happy and satisfied. However, at Loretta’s 2018 I had issues staying up front on that rough track. After each moto, my hands literally would turn white, and I had no blood flow to my hands for about 30 minutes after each ride. The team wasn’t overly excited with my results at that point, and we were looking for some answers ourselves. We set out to find the best available equipment readily available to the market straight out of the box as a privateer, and we felt the answer was Husqvarna—the chassis, the suspension, big wheels, etc. Essentially it’s a ready-to-race supermini almost straight out of the crate. So we were able to liquidate our stable of Suzukis, motors, parts, etc., and Suzuki was super cordial about letting me out of my contract early to start training by September 2018. It also freed up their budget and contracts to pursue young talent that they were after. We left on good terms with Suzuki, and we’re very grateful for the time spent there and all the support they provided for those three years.

Another change: you’ve switched from #411—a number you’re known for—to #72.
Four-eleven is my birthday, but I was ready for something new. I ran the #72 a couple of times at Loretta’s, and I like the way it looks on the bike. With all the other changes, why not change it all? New bike, new number—it just felt right.

Let’s talk life at home: chores. We know you have them. What are your responsibilities around home?
Shoot, Big Bronson don’t play! We live on our best friend’s ranch. When I’m home, I do some ground work on the skiddy and tractor. We also have a lot of grass to mow and weed-eat. My brother Lincoln is learning to run and operate a construction company under the instruction of my dad. I always jump in and help with whatever project they’re working on. Usually it’s building a fence or deck. My dad has taught us to do most things on our own—he started teaching me to take care of my race equipment when I was really young. I’m really thankful for this, because now, at 15, I live at MTF on my own.

Any hobbies?
All the normal stuff: pitters, Fortnite, jet skiing, and recently we have added bowling to our list of talents. To see more of the crew’s extracurricular activities, follow @alecking448 on Insta.
