MARTIN
MD: Adam Sandler.
AM: Chris Hemsworth sounds like a good fit.
Last person who made you nervous?
MD: My wife when she yells at me. Just kidding!
AM: Mitch Payton.
Greatest accomplishment?
MD: My win in Atlanta, which I consider my home stadium, in 2014.
AM: Second overall in the outdoor championship in 2016 and 2018.
Worst crash?
MD: In 2014 I crashed during practice two weeks before Vegas while leading the championship. I shattered my heel and had to ride around in a wheelchair.
AM: Muddy Creek in the first moto of 2018.
MD: Me, of course. I actually got kicked out of a country club for trying to jump one. Not my proudest moment.
AM: Probably Martin. I’m pretty mellow on the course.
Most ridiculous person in the pits?
MD: Nobody really comes to mind. Maybe Alex Martin?
AM: Lucas Mirtl.
Favorite person in the pits?
MD: I don’t have a specific favorite, but I just love the PC team.
AM: Steve Matthes.
Favorite sports team?
MD: I’m a soccer guy. Real Madrid.
AM: Minnesota Vikings.
MD: My clutch when there are big whoops.
AM: I’ve bent quite a few bars over the years.
Most useless item in your garage?
MD: My weed whacker.
AM: My battery-powered hedge trimmer. The thing is useless. I need to invest in a gas-powered unit.
MD: This recent win in Nashville. I really needed this win.
AM: Glen Helen National in 2016.
Favorite competitor?
MD: Back in the day when I raced Davi [Millsaps].

AM: Phil Nicoletti.
Angriest you’ve ever gotten with each other?
MD: Alex is a good dude. Nothing bad to say about him.
AM: I’ve never been angry with Marty, although I’m sure he wasn’t happy with me after Minneapolis this year.
Favorite obstacle?
MD: Nothing like a good flowing rhythm section.
AM: Millville sand whoops.
Least favorite obstacle?
MD: A big jump with sketchy ruts.
AM: LaRocco’s Leap.
Favorite mistake?
MD: Usually when there’s a mistake there’s not a favorite part.
AM: When I forgot to leave my key under the mat for Phil and he had to climb through a window to get into his apartment.
Most notable change in racing in the last ten years?
MD: The tracks are getting way more mellow.
AM: Seeing guys racing well into their thirties and still being competitive. It’s made the depth of talent in both classes much deeper than I remember.
MD: Ride a 125 in the 250 Class for a whole season.
AM: There’s absolutely no chance a 125 is clearing the Leap. I’d race a 125 in the 250 Class all day over two broken wrists.
MD: I wish I was a better golfer.
AM: The ability to golf in the 70s.
Favorite sport other than MX?
MD: Definitely golf.
AM: Cycling.
