Last January, Blake Savage suffered a spinal injury while riding with Ken Roczen and he’s been working hard to rehabilitate himself ever since. Blake is also still training Roczen, so American Honda teamed up with Manufacturing & Production Services (MPS) to prepare a Talon 1000R sport side-by-side just for Savage, specially equipped with hand-control driving aids.

“This has been a really hard time for me, but this specially equipped Talon opens up a new world of possibilities,” Savage says. “I’m back to blasting sand washes and skimming whoops, but this time on four wheels instead of two. It’s brought a huge sense of freedom and adventure that I didn’t know if I’d be able to experience again.”

On the previous pages of Pit Pass, you might have noticed a shot of Adam Cianciarulo being handed a drawing of himself by Kipp Davis. Kipp’s an artist from Iowa State University—you can find his work on Instagram (@kidartmx) as well as on his website (kdartonline.com). He met up with Cianciarulo at the Spring Creek National in Minnesota just as the rain started on Saturday morning, and AC and his mechanic, Brandon Zimmermann, ended up inviting him to hang out in the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki rig until the rain stopped, giving him a guided tour of the inside of the factory semi. Kipp’s next project? Possibly something with Eli Tomac, AC’s new Kawasaki factory teammate.
